This area is currently threatened, among many other impacts, by the overexploitation of natural resources (unsustainable agricultural practices and deficient forestry management, among other factors) and by arson (associated with variables such as soil impoverishment and the clogging of riverbeds), contributing in turn to the desertification process that affects large areas of the Iberian Peninsula as a whole.
