In the Iberian West we can find:

• Eutrophic lakes with Magnopotamion vegetation.
• Endemic oromediterranean heaths with gorse.
• Sub-steppe areas of grasses.
• Pastures of Quercus suber and/or Quercus ilex.
• Mediterranean meadows with tall grasses and rushes.
• Ash forests with Fraxinus angustifolia.
• Galician-Portuguese oak woods with Quercus robur.
• Salix alba gallery forests.
• Populus alba.
• Quercus ilex forests.

The landscape presents, in general, a fairly gentle relief made up of wide areas of peneplain interrupted by small hills, with an average altitude of about 900 metres.

Of the plant formations, the extensive areas of pastureland are worthy of note, in which the holm oak (Quercus ilex spp. ballota), the cork oak (Quercus suber), the Potuguese oak (Quercus faginea) and the ash tree (Fraxinus angustifolia) stand out, as well as the rockrose scrub (Cistus ladanifer), the white Spanish broom (Cytisus multiflorus) and the French lavender (Lavandula stoechas). However, the bush stratum, which is very rich in species, has been eliminated in most of its original area in order to increase the production of grasses. Due to their topography, the more abrupt areas retain a higher quality brush cover, with an abundance of hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) and narrow-leaved mock privet (Phyllirea angustifolia).
