VALLE DEL ASÓN
The Nature and Man Foundation was created in 1994 by a small group of people passionate about nature who started the Foundation. Its founding objectives promote:
Conservation of the natural heritage and traditional human activities, establishing an integrated vision between man and the environment.
Protected Natural Areas, paying particular attention to those at municipal level in collaboration with the municipalities and participating in their management.
The restoration of ecosystems and the recovery of endangered species of wild flora and fauna, consistent with sustainable development, the safeguarding of ethnographic heritage, research and environmental education.
During this period, the Foundation has developed a large number of actions, among which we can highlight:
- Wetland restoration.
- Forest conservation.
- Creation of a network of municipal reserves.
- Recovery of plant and faunistic species.
- Production of native forest species in nurseries.
- Production of documentaries.

Parque Natural de Los Collados del Asón Ramales de la Victoria – Collados del Asón – Ramales de la Victoria.
Activity:
We will stop in Arredondo, the “capital of the world”, to tour this interesting town, famous for its Indians. In addition, we will visit the “Alto Asón” Centre, an interpretation room of the nature of the Eastern Mountain of Cantabria.
We will continue towards the Natural Park of the Collados del Asón. In it we will be able to observe birds of prey, such as the lioned vulture and the peregrine falcon, as well as the forest on the banks of the river Asón and the interesting confluence of beech and holm oak, singularity of this valley.
From the top of the hill, we will contemplate the waterfall that constitutes the source of the Asón River, and we will make a short excursion through the interior of the natural park, guided at all times by private field guards.
